2023 Pond Tour essay contest open to all local students
Subject “What I discovered on the Pond Tour”
Each year, the Heart Of Texas Water Garden and Pond Society (HOTWGPS) hosts a FREE, self-guided Pond Tour where members open up their back yard ponds and water features for the general public to visit and enjoy. This is a great chance for our water feature owners and serious water gardeners to share their piece of paradise with the public. Some members specialize in raising water lilies, others have koi, fancy goldfish, landscapes with ponds, waterfalls, fountains, and little rivers, or a combination. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend a few hours, or the weekend, seeing some of the best water gardens and ponds in the Waco area.
This year we are adding an essay contest for local students who visit one or more of the participating ponds. The essay should be not over 500 words and will be judged by the HOTWGPS executive committee. Prize winners will be selected at our August meeting. Entries must be received by the tour chairman Ron Haft, 408 Cindy Lane, Lorena TX 76655 or emailed to ronhaft408@yahoo.com, by July 15. Please include name, age, of student, and contact info. Prizes by age group will be $25 prepaid gift cards.
This year tour dates are June 24 and June 25,
Saturday. 9AM- 5PM, 8:30PM-10:00PM
Sunday 12PM-5PM
