The purpose of the Heart Of Texas Water Garden And
Pond Society is to promote, create and expand the interest
in the hobby of Water Gardening and Ponding, to disseminate
information about Water Gardening and Ponding, and
to engage in educational and social activities related
to Water Gardening and Ponding.
Any person who has an interest in Water Gardening
and the care and feeding of water plants, fish and
other aquatic life shall be eligible for membership. Upon
application approval and payment of dues as outlined
in the By-Laws - Article IV, the applicant will become
a member of the HOTWGPS in good standing
With a new administration elected into office in the
fall of 2008, and with an eye towards the future of
the WPS, requests were made to try to find ways to
grow an active membership base and expand the reach
of the group.
Out of those meetings came several suggestions:
- trim the mailing list to only active members who
are still interested in receiving it
- pursue a non-profit status with the IRS to make
operations and fund raising easier
- redesign the web site to modernize the look and
to better serve the members' needs
- and finally to change the name to recognize the
broad reach of our membership. With members from
Hillsboro to Moody and China Spring to Mexia, it
was no longer just a "Waco" group. After
several suggestions and votes, it was finally agreed
to change the name to the Heart of Texas
Water Garden and Pond Society, to reflect
both the area of Central Texas that our members come
from, and the variety of water features that our
members have and enjoy. So no matter what type of
water feature you may have or want, from a contemplative
"reflecting pool", a "pond-less" waterfall,
a cool and quiet water garden filled with plants
and flowers in bloom to a yard-filling pond stocked
with dozens of koi and other assorted fishes, the HOT-WGPS is
the place for you!
